Introduce yourself to lenders.
Am Mararo Samuel,I was born in a family of seven where I am the fourth born. my parents were peasant farmers. they educated us with hardship.
It was until I was eighteen years old when my friend called me to Kisii town, he took me to his shop, he was making beads of different items like basket, table mat, key holders among others. he trained me how to make beads. when I was an expert, he employed me and he was paying me Ksh 6000 a month.
It was out of the small saving that I also decided to start a small business of making beads.
I come from a community that still regard its culture. Not so many people have gone to school.
I would like my children to be entrepreneurs as government jobs today are so limited.
I run a chicken project of traditional hens whereby I sell fertilized eggs to other farmers, eggs to hotels and households, two-weeks chicks and sometimes big chickens.
The project is growing rapidly and making me realize good profits. It also has an impact to other projects like farming since the droppings from the chickens are good fertilizer.
My next move will be to improve the structures, increase the laying egg hens for more production. This is due to the increasing demand especially two weeks chicks.
I thank Zidisha family for their support in changing lives positively of many people in my region and globally.
My chicken project is growing fast and I'm able to make real profits that are enabling me provide both basic and other needs to my family.
I look forward for greater experiences with Zidisha org. Thanks
First, I will like to thank the zidisha family for the nice work in empowering people especially in Africa and specifically my lenders of the first loan which I repaid fully last Friday 21st of April 2017.
I started a chicken farming project which has picked so well and by now I have 10 chickens that lay eggs, 3 cocks and 21 3-month chicks. All of them are local breeds.
I want to use the second loan that I'm applying currently to add more chicken, make better structures where they eat from and also buy feeds for the start. This expansion will require me to spend like 2,500 shillings. So I will top up the few hundreds to the loan amount and effect my plan.
I am able to collect at least 8 eggs daily and a fertilized egg sells at 20 shillings. So selling 4 eggs from each day's collection while keeping the rest for selected hens to hatch chicks will enable me raise money to repay my loan.
Adding more chickens will enable me collect more eggs daily and will increase my profits.
