I am Obuya Simeon Mabea, My village is near Keroka Town, About 1 Km from Keroka, along Nairobi Kisii Highway. I am a university Student, completing my bachelor of arts (Communication and Media). I believe in self-employment and look forward to creating jobs for others.
I have been Sewing clothes since I completed my Secondary School in the Year 2008. I started the business from the savings I made after teaching for 6 months as Untrained Teacher at Nyanchonori Secondary School. I decided to start the business so that it can fund me during my College times that were to begin in the year 2010, which for sure did. I also wanted to begin something to help others, those who were unable to join University. I started with two village friends who up to the present are my employees.
The business was able to generate an average net profit of four thousand every month. I now look forward to building an empire of diversified network of businesses after I have completed my Education. I am currently in the process of Finding starting capital for the yet to be established businesses.
I own a sewing Business where I mend High school uniforms. I also repair local people’s cloths at a cheaper price. I developed the business after researching and realizing that people needed to uniform supplies. I started with one sewing machine donated by my mother. I started with two trainees who used to assist me satisfy the demand.
My main objectives are to provide solutions and create employment to high school dropouts who never managed to go to college.
I currently want to expand my second hand (Mitumba) business to supplement the sewing business. I now own two sewing machines which I have recommended my initial trainees (currently my employees) to start training others.
I also have plans to start a local station come studio to cater for the upcoming local artists at affordable price. My vision is to own vision 2030. The slogan is to pull Development and give back to the community. Also, I am thinking of yet another business that will offer cheap medication to the poor sick in my village.
Fist of all, receive the gratitudes from my family and I in particular for your previous assistance. My plans were initially to set up a media studio that will nurture local youth talents on top of the clothing business. However, while working in the previous clothing project, one of my relatives got ill. 'Her' was located several kilometers to the highway. It was at night and getting transportation was impossible. The worst situation was that it was impossible to get even a place to buy 'PAIN KILLERS,' luckily, my brother owned a boda boda (TAXI) motorbike that we used to carry the patient for hours to the main Keroka Hospital. I wondered how long it would have taken thanks to my brother's machine. With this, a new vision to start a chemist come medical clinic came to my mind. So I am thinking to raise funds that will enable me provide medical services in the remote village.
The challenge that am facing is that, I am not an expert in nursing and starting a chemist from scratch with all the paper work is not easy. I decided to get a chemist where there are other competitors, buy it and relocate it to the village. I got one, the one I have been photographed with in the cover page. The estimate of its cost and the cost of hiring a trained worker is roughly $2000. I have raised $500 and still working towards getting other interested parties to help the needy patients.
I believe that the little you will raise will move this project to the implementation process. Thank you in advance.
