during my childhood , i used to sty with my mum in the kitchen . and that gave me an interest in cooking . some times i used to visit my uncle in Mumias town where he ran a restaurant . From there i developed an intrest in making snacks. when i came to Nairobi my fist employment was in a snacks manufacturing company but now a bit different , the snacks were of the indian origin which is abit improvised and durable. people in my country, especialy low income earners are used to [chapatis and mandazis] in the first place they never used to like my snacks as time went by they are getting used to my products thus giving me an advantage. when our company reduced employees due to what they termed as drastick fall in their business i was one of the people who received termination latters and i decided to start my own business .
I make and sale snacks like potato crisps, banana crisps roast\fry peanuts and other snacks of the Indian origin. the snacks i make are in demand to low income earners because they have been initialy sold in supermarkets and malls but turget is low incom earners . i chose this business because it is unique and typical cost is a round khs 8000 to buy the products and the revenue that comes out after sale is round ksh12000 the revenue earned is usually used in paing school fees for my son , house rent and reinvestment in growing the business
I intend to use the loan to buy stock for the next BUCK TO SCHOOL season which will begin early next month. i think i could afford to have the money but my son , being one who performed well in the last national examination will be seeking to join secondary school. so i intent to use the savings i hav for school fees. for that season i need around ksh 13000 . which i know if i get ksh 9116 from zidisha ill manage to top up the difference buy my stock . i need to buy cooking oil which will cost 5200 and then buy popcorn 7000 and salt. as for other things i have enough in stock . am sure next year i will have an opportunity to employ one person . am anticipating a profit of a round 25000 monthly if all goes well . so my business should be registered by may next year as a company.
