MY name is Zachary ojendo am 37 years old, iam a certified public accountant by profession. I went to school in the village in Migori County in Kenya. During my high school education I faced a number of challenges and the most difficult one was how to raise my school fee, my father had no formal employment and my mother was just peasant farmer. Therefore to raise school fee I used to help my mother in the farm where we would sell the produce to pay my fee. After the high school I started working as a cleaner for a cleaning company and that is where I developed interest in cleaning business. I managed to raise money from my job to pay my college fee and this to me was an great achievement since what we were paid as cleaners was peanut but I was able to save and pay my college fee, today iam a proud certified public accountant .
Am coming from homa bay county in Kenya, an area where fishing dominate the economic activities, most people area fishermen while there are some people practicing farming but in small scale, the area is dry and has two rainy season, in April and sometimes in November
After working as an accountant for 3 years I felt it was time now I concentrator on what I liked doing, cleaning and with the experience I had, I stated my cleaning company called Patom Company limited in September 2008 with only $629 with one customer who was paying $135 per month.
Currently am married with three children, my first born girl would like to be a doctor when she grows up, the boys are still young but the second born like dancing and singing so I think he will be a musician. I like passing my time listening to music and watching movies and business documentations.
with the help of loans I have been taking I have been able to grow my company from annual turnover of$1620 to $141176 to day , my work force has increased from 5 staff to 96 staffs today.
I intend to increase my customer base in the next coming year in order to increase my revenue to $184560 .
Patom Company limited is a resisted firm in Kenya, we provide professional cleaning services, fumigation and pest control services, landscaping and environmental management. Our most selling service is cleaning service.
The world will always need cleaning services since everyone wants to be in a clean home, clean office and be smart. Even in times of rough economic times, cleaning is a service that business cannot afford to cut down on as It directly impacts on their professionalism and has everything to do with an organization corporate image and with over 40m Kenyan, cleaning services will always be in demand. That is why we ventured into this business.
Currently our monthly turnover is $7,196 and our monthly cost is $5,582 the profit the we get from this business are invested back into the business and home improvement
We are currently working for government institution, private firms, schools and colleges; we are in major towns in Kenya with our offices at lunga lunga plaza in industrial area Nairobi on lunga lunga road.
We get our customers from door to door marketing, referrals from existing customers and majorly from participation in public tenders. We then sign contract with these customers for certain period. Current we have signed 12 contracts with 12 clients running various periods to 2017. Our customers pay every month after the services have been rendered, however some like government institution my take long to pay and that is the challenger that we face sometime since we have to pay staffs and buy consumables in time.
Since my business has improved thanks to zidisha, I intent to engage an accountant to do my bookkeeping. with proper accounting records I will be able to know the health of my business and able to attract more investors to my cleaning business.customest will have alot of confidence in my business when they see our books.I therefore want to use this loan to buy a computer for the accountant at$ 12 and a table at $7 and office chair at $9 with this my accountant will be able to give me daily and monthly accounting records for making business decisions , am therefore appealing to lenders to kindly fund my loan thank you.
