My name is Lydia Momanyi. I am a Kenya citizen living in Kitale Town. I am a married woman. My husband’s name is Kevin Makori. We have one child, Mary Makori. She is two years old. I am a Christian and I goes to Anglican church in Kitale with my family. I finished my secondary education in the year 1999. I then joined USIU in the year 2002. I graduated in the year 2006 with a degree in accounts. In the year 2009, I was employed on a contract basis as account assistant at Moi University Kitale. While working at Moi University, I developed a passion to establish my own business when I used to attend several functions and realised that there were no enough tents and chairs to accommodate the people during such events. It then dawned to me that there was a vacuum as far as wedding planning is concerned and I strived to fill the space. In the year 2007, one year after graduating with a degree in accounts from USIU, I started the Krewin Occasions with an intention of making weddings successful. I had only acquired the tents and the race to upgrade the business had started since it needed many important equipment. “Tables, chairs, gowns and many other things were needed and I was like-God help me to achieve all these things because I want to bring a change in the society. I resigned one year ago as accounts assistant at Moi University after working for 4 years so as to fully oversee my business. Gradually, I bought tables and chairs from my 4 years savings. Currently the chairs that I have bought accommodates more than 200 people.
My business provides event hosting services that includes wedding planning services. I run my business in Kitale town. The business offers its clients different wedding planning packages tailored to suit the needs and financial status of the couples. The Krewin Occasions not only plans weddings but also rent out event equipments, a move that has made my business stand out as unbeaten by other competitors in this field. The business sits in a wide market share in the wedding and planning industry here in kitale town. Apart from income generation from the business, My services have made me achieve customer satisfaction which is a salient feature in business. Whenever I offer my services no one has complained but they have been applauding my work, My biggest challenge is that other firms in the same business have been lowering their prices since they could not keep up with the competition. most of the clients are not aware of the quality of services hence going for sub-standard ones from other firms. I am so grateful to my lenders because my first loan enabled me to buy more sits and decoration materials, I am now eying to increase the number of dome tents that I have from six to eight by buying two more extra at a cost of $460. This will enable me to expand my business and be able to serve more customers who would like to hire my equipment. I have great plans for my business. In future I would like to start my own academy for teaching floral design and wedding planning. I would like to teach the youth on how they can become self employed. I am therefore humbly requesting lenders to fund my loan once again and help me expand my business.
Just as I had mentioned to you earlier, I deal in wedding planning services, decorations, corporate event management, hiring of wedding equipment and catering services. The business offers its clients different wedding planning packages tailored to suit the needs and financial status of the couples. I wish to expand my business to all towns in the country as well as opening up a school for floral designs and wedding planning. I have great plans for my business and I want to start my own academy for teaching floral design and wedding planning. I want to make it a leading industry in the country. I am hereby requesting Zidisha micorofinance to fund my business and help me expand my business.
