Dear all. My name is Chengo Kenga, a resident of Kaloleni town in Kilifi County in Kenya. I am a businessman who sells fruits and vegetables. I do my business in a big open-air market where I am allocated a small stall.
I was born and raised up here. This is an area with semi-arid conditions and sometimes the drought is so severe that we lose our livestock and get relief food from government to curb starvation. However, this community has make great strides of late where dams have been constructed to store water for use during the dry seasons.
I am married with 3 children who are still in school. They all aspire to be engineers since on of their relatives is an engineer who works at the Port of Mombasa.
I buy fresh produce from farms and then sell from my stall. I deal with very perishable goods and I always balance the stock that I keep so as to avoid losses that would be occassioned by wilting and rotting.
I hope to get tenders to supply institutions like schools where I will be assured of a huge market hence more sales and profitability.
I will use the funds to buy cabbages that I will later sell to my customers.
