I am Hannah Mbugua, married and with one child, a daugher.
I grew up in the rural areas of Central Kenya.
After Highs school, I spent most of my time doing little businesses and later joined college of accounts.
My life took a turn when I decided to move from home and start my life alone. I rented a small room without any source of income.
I resumed doing little businesses and applying for jobs.
Later I got a job as internal auditor but within a year, I got an accident, got admitted in the hospital and lost the job.
My life was back to square zero. I went back to stay with my parents. One year later, I got engaged, married and with my lovely husband went to start the small family business which I want to grow.
Am trained in accounts and I do business.
I serve in church and mostly I love children department.
Its also of interest to me to touch people's lives positively.
My business deals with quick moving food staffs.
I live in an estate where most people work late and by the time they are coming home, most shops are closed.
With my ability to stay late, these customers pick their things from our shop on their way home
Mostly I sell Sugar, Milk, Wheat and Maize flour, coffee, tea leaves, rice and other quick consumables. These goods are on demand mostly because I avail them to my customers when they need them most - late night shopping.
In a bad day my sales are USD 20 and USD 50 on a good day
The profit is between 10-20% of of the sales.
I use the profit to pay rent and add more stock.
I intend to buy three main commodities:
- Mobile airtime Scratch cards: $20
- Cooking Oil: $30
- Wheat flour: $20
Total: $70.
The balance will be sourced from the shop.
I have noticed with amazement how these good are moving fast.
