I am young entrepreneur building an online bargain retail business. This started as a way to make ends meet in university but has growth to become a source of income beyond school.
The business is called Below 1000 as it sells items below ksh 1000. This is an attainable price for the majority of the population despite low incomes. I source quality affordable items and sell them.
When the pandemic started. We initially had stable sales but after a couple of months, we realised we needed to adjust our product mix. The items like earphones that people used almost every day were resilient in their sales. The other more enthusiast items like rings fell off. I will use the funds for more inventory on the items we have seem still have demand.
non-essential retail has had a difficult time but with our focus on items essential to work from home, we are confident in our sales continuing to be stable.
