I am 41 years old, I was born and raised in Taita taveta County in coastal region in Kenya. I began going to school at Mahoo primary school in 1983, I did my K.C.P.E in 1991, after having my primary education level in the said primary school. I later joined form one at Chala secondary school in 1992 then continued again up to the year 1995 and did my K.C.S.E.
After doing my secondary level, I stayed home for 2years and got hired by Electoral Commission do some clerical job of registration. After my term ended, I came to Nairobi to look if perhaps I could get a better job, I came to Nairobi in 1997 and began to work with different companies dealing with exportation of fresh fruits and vegetables, since I was doing this as casual worker, I tought in some private schools as a pre-school teacher. I've been married for 14 years now, immediately after marriage I got into business, since I was born at the border town called Taveta, bordering between Kenya and Tanzania I had an idea of how I could get clothing materials, curtains and lessos (Khangas) and bring them to Nairobi for a better sales, I did this for almost 2years and again changed to selling onions, this happened because of the issue of raising kids also came in and limited me from long distance movement.
By the help of my husband we began a cyber café and this has brought in a new idea of me selling snacks and some soft drinks. I am married to Joshua Omondi with two children, Esther Atieno 11years and Daniel Baraka 6years.
We, both me and my husband runs a cyber café business as my husband runs other businesses apart from this, while I am fully in charge of taking care of the cyber café, the business helps me pays especially school fees for my kids, I am also glad that currently it able to sustain itself i.e paying for the rent of the business premise which is $32 monthly, we have also one assistant whom we also pay approx $4.5 a day. Since my husbands’ business deals majorly with selling Arts and Crafts locally and abroad, and especially at this time the business is low due to travel advisory which were issued by other foreign countries, the cyber café has been of a great assistance in helping us paying our house rent which is approx $37 monthly. As I have mentioned on my profile it is at this time that an idea has come up of starting to sell snacks such as popcorns, pastries, nuts and candies to go along with the cold soft drinks. I intent to buy some more plastic chairs and a table for a space which I have in front of our cyber café and make it a nice place for my customers while browsing they can enjoy drinks too.
I will take $35, to buy 5 crates of sodas, which contains 300 ml of each bottle.
The rest amount which is $55, I will use in buying 5 crate of sodas of 1 litre a bottle,
the remaining $5, I will use in adding some snacks.
Thanks
