About my self
I am a man aged 31 years old. I am married to Mrs. Emma Atieno and a father of two children called Elvis Omondi and Ann Adhiambo. I am the seventh born of my family and my wife is the first born child of her parents. My wife is a housewife and helps in the house chores like cooking, washing clothes and also taking care of the children. I live in Githunguri area and I have managed to build a semi permanent house in the area. I wholly depend with my business in providing basic needs like food, clothing’s and shelter and also providing education to my children. I finished my O level I in the year 2005 and got a grade of (B pain). Due to financial strain of my parents, I didn’t manage to further my education and therefore I started looking for casual job within our area especially at the construction site. I later relocated to Nairobi the capital city in such for job. After being jobless for about 1 year got a job with the beverage manufacturing company called Coca-Cola in the year 2006. I worked there for 2 years up to 2008 and the company decided to do retrenchment to minimize their expenses and unfortunately I was among retrenched. The gratuity I got after retrenchment I decided to do business with it and that’s when i decided to be a stockiest and a distributor of the Coca-Cola drinks i.e my former company. The earning I get from my business is used to meet my daily need and those of my family. The remainder of the revenue i use it to add my stock to make my business grow.
About my business
I am a stockiest of the Coca Cola beverages. This includes sodas and juices.
The business is located in Utawala- Githunguri area which ideally is an area with above normal temperature making beverages as one of the most consumed product in the area as resident tries to quench their thirst. Customers prefer my business because of its ideal location and also because of the free delivery services i offer to customer. This I have managed by buying one bicycle and also employed one young man to do the delivery job. This has enabled me to develop a wide network with my customers since with just a phone call they can get their order. Offering this service has enabled my profit margin to rise considerably. This has given me courage to borrow a loan from Zidisha so that I can add more stocks. I also intend to by a motorbike which will help in fast and wide distribution of my product. The risk my business face is theft. To counter this I have employed to night guard who keep watch at night. Other risk includes employees who are distributing the goods. Sometimes they run away with the day sales. This i have been able to control by employing them permanently thus taking their identification certificates and also making sure that I know one of their relatives just incase something happens while at work place. As far as revenues are concerned, my business generates a total revenue of around Kenya Shillinngs Ksh 120,000.00 Costs include rent of Ksh. 10,000.00, salary and wages of about Ksh 28,000.00 and purchases worth around Ksh30,000.00 Deducting all these expenses am left with only Kshs 24000.00. This is the amount I use for supporting my family by providing food, clothing, shelter and education
