I am Anne Akumu, I am 27 years old , a mother and a afarmer.I went to Liranda priamry school and later joined kisumu girls secondary school when I successfully completed my secondary education .I then went to Egerton University for a degree in Agribusiness management and graduated with second class upper division.
I tried getting a white collar job but I was not lucky to find one due to high numbers of of graduands looking for jobs. I decided to try my hand in commercial poultry farming.
I knew the market for eggs was readily available and wanted to venture into poultry farming but my problem was start up capital. I could not raise the $1000 required for keeping at least 300 birds at a time. I decided to convert my kitchen into a poultry unit and bought 100 birds. with $200 loan from my former schoolmate. I looked well after the and only three died, three months later I was selling eggs and I currently have 400 birds hopeful to expand it to 6000 birds.
I do visit farms of established farmers to observe and learn on what the do to improve my business and better it even more.
I provide eggs and chicken manure in my farm.I sell eggs to my college students .They actually buy all and make orders.the demand far outweigh the supply.
The demand for the eggs is high due to high population and students who are my main customers prefer my eggs because the are always fresh.
my monthly costs average is $300 and my montly average revenues is $500.
I use the profits from the farm to to support my family and my parents. I save 50% of my income to reinvest back in the business.
Hello lenders,Please give me a loan so that I can buy feeders for my poultry. I recently bought 100 more poultry and there is need to add feeders to accommodate the large number comfortable. a feeder cost $12 and the loan would help me acquire7 more feeders.Thank you
